how we helped

Our first project was to write and publish a new Gaelic language novel, with award-winning writer Anne Morrison we developed a manuscript, shot new photography, designed and delivered the novel for use in primary schools around Scotland.

We were then approached as the company had been let down by another supplier. The brief was to design, source images and project manage a new Gaelic learners text book for use by Secondary 1 teachers and pupils when they returned after the summer break.

The new book is 400 pages, with up to 5 relevant images per page, that’s 2000 images. We agreed terms and had most of our studio team working on elements for 6 weeks.

Tight timescales and high volumes of design work are managed through our project manager in the Portree studio office.

what they said

“We were up against an almost impossible deadline, but the Pelican team pulled it off. The sheer amount of information that had to be collated, images sourced, laid out and designed was enormous.

The finished book was delivered on time and it looks great. We wanted a look that would encourage secondary school pupils to learn Gaelic and the Pelican team understood this and approached the project with great professionalism.

We’ve had a lot of very positive feedback and we’re now working on books 2 and 3, with a little more time thankfully.”
